c. 1860 Civil War Period, Original United States Navy Button Steel Die, Not Cancelled or Defaced, from the Scoville Manufacturing Company, Waterbury, Connecticut, Choice Extremely Fine.
This rare original U.S. Navy Button Stamping Die has a classic and choice Navy Anchor Design to be stamped into Navy buttons. The button itself would likely be a cuff size or slightly larger button as the design element is about .75” in size. The Steel Die measures about 1.5” tall x just under 1.5” in diameter at its round base. A rare item that should prove to be of interest to Military, Civil War, U.S. Navy, and general Button collectors alike. Very rare.
