Rhodochrosite is one of the most beautiful and desirable minerals ever mined. Rhodochrosite specimens from Peru are well-known to collectors for their classic muted reddish-pink coloration and form. The red color is created by the presence of Manganese. Here, the granular crystals have formed in an interesting manner forming a series of rolling "hills" across this remarkable mineral. The reverse side exhibits some original matrix which has a rust brown coloration. The very colorful specimen is set on a custom acrylic base. The piece is in excellent condition and offers an easy way to add a pop of color into any room as it creates significant texture and flow with its undulating crystals and deep cavities.
