Description
A Neo-Babylonian creme marble stamp seal in the form of a duck, perhaps also used as a weight, c. 7th - 6th Century BC, in traditional style, the head of the bird turned back over the body and nicely defined. On the base a pattern of drilled circular depressions in the form of a standing deity. 17 x 13mm. Light deposits. Ex East Coast private collection, acquired September 1986; Ex California Museum of Ancient Art, donated 1989. (1748).
