Item Details
Description
A continental goblet, probably German, of typical form with baluster stem and foliate borders and having an applied laurel wreath to the main body enclosing a later presentation engraving, with gilded interior. Struck 800 to foot rim alongside two further marks, one possibly the crescent moon and crown and the other indistinct, possibly filled. Height measuring 7 1/4 inches (18.5 cm), gross weight 8.28 ozt (257.4 grams).
Condition
Goblet displays some general tarnishing and surface wear, marks and scratches. A few minor dints and knocks and some creases to the stem. Some rubbing and loss of surface detail to decoration. Possibly filled with a later base plate. Some fading to gilded interior. The later presentation engraving reads '6th Notts (Mansfield) Home Guards Battalion Rifle Shot of the Year.'
