Description
Glazed Oribe ceramic. Japan, Meiji to Showa
Round form, toward the rim lightly edged like a square. Strong drop formation of the green glaze, however the symmetry is only particularly emphasized on two sides. The cream-colored glaze with compact craquele features painted brown grass motifs, cloudy contours with grids and suggested forms of the cultic hanging Shimenawa. Seal marks on the unglazed bottom.
Condition report: Very good
HEIGHT 5,3 CM, DIAMETER TO 16,8 CM
From an old German collection specialized in Japanese ceramics
