(California, 1924-2014)

Robert Dhaemers is known for his abstract sculptures and studio jewelry he created in the 1950s-1970s.
He exhibited widely and taught for more than 40 years at the well-known Mills College in Oakland, CA.
His works are characterized by his unique approach often termed 'organic modern' and his use of found objects.

'Face in a Knob' is a small abstract sculpture crafted from an antique doorknob.

This work is one of many being offered in this sale and comes directly from Robert Dhaemers' estate.
Most of these works were exhibited at least once.
Our gallery has mountains of files and papers from the Dhaemers' estate including multiple copies of exhibition cards and catalogues as well as photographs Dhaemers took of his works which he used in his many exhibitions.
