Description
Rookwood Design Crystal scenic vase with wild decoration done by Elizabeth Barrett in 1944. Pictured are two large houses, a man running, a woman standing, lots of trees and two horses, one of which is rearing up, all under a clear crackle glaze. Marks include the company logo, the date, shape number 6204 C and the incised monogram of the artist. Height 7 5/8 inches. Excellent condition with typical Design Crystal crazing. We're fairly sure Betty Barrett had lunch with her husband, Jens Jensen before taking on this vase. This piece and the three Kenton Hills items on this page are pictured in the November-December 2003 issue of the Journal of the American Art Pottery Association on page 25 in an article by Bob and Mary Ellen Seery entitled "Formed In Clay: A History of Cincinnati Seen Through its Potteries, 1870s to 1960s."
