Description
Rare Tim Liess (1965-2009 American, Indiana, Chicago) watercolor on paper entitled "Storms of Emotion." Liess is a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago and works in dry brush watercolor technique, sometimes using as many as 30 layers of paint on heavy paper to achieve the effect he wants although no evidence of artist or paint are to be seen. His work is photorealistic with a touch of melancholy and his paintings of the midwest are often done early in the day as is this one. Signed and dated 1992 in the lower right hand corner and framed by the artist, with a brass plaque under the glass which gives the title. Sight size is 8 1/2 by 33 inches and with frame the total size is 21 1/2 by 46 inches. Nicely framed with several liners, again by the artist. Excellent original condition. What makes this a rare item? It seems that Mr. Liess likes to keep his originals and simply sell his prints of which there are many. We could not find another original either for sale or having been sold. Blue Ribbon winner of the Judges' Merit Award in the Wildlife & Western Art Exhibition in 1992. The Blue Ribbon accompanies the lot.
