Description

Title: Our Wild Indians: Thirty-Three Years' ... Publisher: A. D. Worthington and Company. Publication Date: 1882. Binding: Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket. Edition: 1st Edition. This is the A. D. Worthington and Company 1882 publication of Colonel Richard Irving Dodge's "Our Wild Indians: Thirty-Three Years' Personal Experience among the Red Men of the Great West" (653 pages), with numerous steel and wood engravings, and six full page chromo-lithograph plates, with tissue guards. The cover (app. 6" x 9"), textured black leather spine and outside corners, five raised bands and gold lettering to the spine, marbled boards front and back, is in good overall condition, with wear to the top end of the spine and shallow wear to several edge areas, including the outside corners, which are bumped, and with scuffs to the boards, but with the spine straight and securely connected, the gilt unfaded, and with no prominent stains or deep tears. The inside is very good. The front inside cover spread has a cracked gutter, but the binding is otherwise secure, with no loose or missing pages. There are a very few edge tears, none of which extend into live areas. Almost all pages have no tears. The pages are sunned to their borders, but, excepting the end pages which have several small but clearly visible stains (see title spread photos), there are almost no page stains, and none that are significant. There are no stamps or other attachments. I've found no writing. All the illustrations, and in particular all the chromo-lithographs, are unfaded and clean, as is all text.
