Notes: Karel Appel is perhaps best known for his participation in the founding of the CoBrA group in 1948. His works are characteristically bold and expressionistic with thick black lines and intense colors applied directly from the tube.
Galerie Krikhaar (1963-1988) was established by the artist Herman Krikhaar. He was one of the first to exhibit the work of the CoBrA artists. A letter of authentication and the original receipt accompanies this lot.
