Description
Elvis Presley Owned Copy of Isha Upanishad. (Circa 1960s). From his youth, Elvis was interested in spiritual writings and music - and not just relegated to his Southern Christian roots. The Upanishads are a collection of Hindu texts that originated around 1 B.C. and the Isha Upanishad is one of the shortest. This particular edition was printed in 1924 by Sri Gouranga Press in Calcutta. Elvis apparently obtained the book after he moved to California in the '60s. A certificate of provenance accompanies the book from the Elvis Museum, Pigeon Forge, TN affirming it had been on display there for over 30 years. It had originally been purchased in 1980 at a Beverly Hills auction for display in the Elvis Museum.
