Description
Origin: Ottoman Empire. Length in scabbard – 87,4 cm, without – 84,4 cm. Weight in scabbard – 1327 g, without – 704 g. Blade:Damascus steel blade of significant curvature, from 2/3 of the blade gradually tapering towards the tip. Double edged near the tip. The blade bears yellow metal Islamic inscriptions. Length of the blade 71,8 cm, width – 28 mm, thickness – 6 mm.Handle: Two brown horn grip plates. Silver tape with longitudinal grooves, covering the gap between grip plates. Round pronounced pommel of shamshir type with a hole in the middle, outlined with silver. Silver crossguard with long quillons and double shorter langets. Scabbard: wooden scabbard with original black leather and silver fittings, decorated with floral motifs. Two suspension rings. The upper part of the scabbard with opening for the blade.
Condition
good overall condition. Blade in very good condition, cleaned. Fragments of yellow metal inlays are missing. Silver parts with some scratches and dents, with remains of black patina in indentations. Grip plates in good condition, scratches and dents. Scabbard leather in good condition, with some amount of wear.
