Description
Collection of over 150 Soviet philatelic covers with postal cancellations, each with a cachet, and each with the signature of at least one cosmonaut (includes multiple examples with entire flight crew signatures). These commemorative covers include missions spanning Vostok 2 (1962) through Soyuz 10 (1971) along with other space themes. Stamped postal cancellation dates span March 26, 1962 through April 24, 1971. Signatures (with much duplication) include Cosmonauts: Vostok 1- Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space; Vostok 2- Gherman Titov; Vostok 3- Andriyan Nikolayev; Vostok 4- Pavel Popovich; Vostok 5- Valery Bykovsky, the longest solo flight; Vostok 6- Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space; Voskhod 2- Pavel Belyayev; Voskhod 2, Apollo–Soyuz Test Project, Soyuz 19- Alexey Leonov; Soyuz 1, Voskhod 1- Vladimir Komarov; Voskhod 1- Boris Yegorov; Voskhod 1- Konstantin Feoktistov; Soyuz 3- Georgy Beregovoy; Vostok 3, Soyuz 9- Andriyan Nikolayev; Soyuz 9, Soyuz 18- Vitaly Sevastyanov; Soyuz 4, Soyuz 8, Soyuz 10- Vladimir Shatalov; Soyuz 5, Soyuz 21- Boris Volynov; Soyuz 5, Soyuz 4, Soyuz 8, Soyuz 10- Aleksei Yeliseyev; Soyuz 5, Soyuz 4- Yevgeny Khrunov; Soyuz 6- Georgy Shonin; Apollo–Soyuz Test Project, Soyuz 19, Soyuz 6, Soyuz 35, Soyuz 36- Valeri Kubasov; Soyuz 7, Soyuz 11- Vladislav Volkov; Soyuz 7, Soyuz 16- Anatoly Filipchenko; Soyuz 7- Viktor Gorbatko; Soyuz 4, Soyuz 8, and Soyuz 10- Vladimir Shatalov; and Soyuz 10, Soyuz 16, and Soyuz 33- Nikolay Rukavishnikov. Accompanied by a U.S. cover bearing a November 14, 1969 cancellation stamp signed by both the entire Apollo XII crew ("Charles Conrad," Richard F. Gordon, Jr.," and "Alan L. Bean") alongside Vladimir Shatalov and Georgi Shonin. All contained together in an overstuffed collector's binder.
