Description
DECORATED EARTHENWARE / REDWARE CREAM PITCHER / JUG, manganese- and lead-glazed, approximately one-pint capacity, semi-ovoid form with galleried rim and strap handle. White-slip decoration of vertical stripes and wavy lines alternating with stacks of slightly angled dashes. Together with a 1983 letter from Luke Beckerdite, Research Assoc., MESDA to the jug's owner, Mrs. W. Shook of Potomac, MD speculating that the jug is from the northern Virginia area. 1800-1830. 4 5/8" H, 4 5/8" D rim.
