Description
Second half 19th century, 124 x 62 cm, West Persia
Completely preserved khorjins by the Jaff Kurds are a rarity because those double bags were usually cut apart before being sold and exported. The two pile-woven faces display the characteristic design of hooked diamonds placed in offset rows. The white border is decorated with octagonal stylised flowers, the kilim back is plain brown. The brilliance of the comparatively light colours and the excellent quality of the wool are indications that the bag was woven in the second half of the 19th century. – Very good condition.
