Item Details
Description
Group of lithographic posters, with duplication, depicting the working man and soldier alike do their share for the war effort. Comprises: 1.) "Sure, We'll Finish the Job" signed in-the-stone "Gerrit A. Beneker 1918". Issued for the fifth and final Liberty Loan, known as the Victory Liberty Loan, this image incites the populous to give one last time to finish the job overseas. Depicts man in overalls with bond button prominently displayed digging deep into his pockets for another contribution to help the war effort. 2.) "For Home and Country / Victory Liberty Loan. Signed in-the-plate "Alfred Everitt Orr - (19)18." Depicts a soldiers return as he holds his son to his chest and embraces his wife. Hanging from twine around the soldier's neck is a German helmet displayed as personal war trophy. This lot contains one of the smaller versions of this poster and two of the larger versions. 3.) "And They Thought We Couldn't Fight / Victory Liberty Loans." Signed in-the-stone "Cylde Forsythe." Depicts a wounded and bandaged dough boy in a tattering uniform on the battlefield smiling while holding three German helmets a trophies. This lot contains one of the smaller versions of this poster and two of the larger versions. 4.) "How Much Will You Lend To The Boys Who Are Giving All / Buy Liberty Bonds" designed by Franklin Booth. Depicts a soldier saying goodbye to his family before joining his squad already marching toward the sea on the horizon under a red sky.

Condition
Condition varies widely with the two smaller posters in much shape than the larger versions. Defects include age-toning, brittle edges with losses, stains, tears and others. This lot should be personally inspected prior to bidding. All items sold together as is, no returns. Caveat emptor.
