Description
A very nice old carved wooden mask from the Punu peoples of Gabon, West Africa. The Wood is very light and very dry, suggesting age and wear over the years. The mask has a light surface pigment of kaolin clay remaining, giving the mask a haunting look, and indeed such masks represented the spirit of a deceased young girl who the Punu believe protect the village and crops. The mask itself measures 12 x 8 inches.* The metal display stand is not included, but can be purchased for an additional $30.00
Condition
