Lot 148: The letter of provenance that is posted in the listing has been censored in Photoshop but the piece will come with the original letter or provenance without anything censored. We do not have any reference of the original auction but the gentlemen mentioned in the letter was a known collector of ancient Chinese bronzes during this time. This bronze was registered and inventoried in his collection as #28. As you will see in the additional photos, the clan mark is in the interior of the lid as well as the vase. That is why we believe the cover is original to the vase. There is chipping of to the built up patina around the upper rim. There is a loss on the bottom foot, approx. .75cm by 3 mm by 3mm. A second loss approx. 3.5mm by 4mm by 2mm. The Cover has had the malachite reduced to reveal the clan mark beneath. There is an old damage visible on one edge of the rim as seen in photos.
