A rare, early collection of some of George Washington’s famous speeches and letters, biographical sketches, and a fine description of his funeral. According to Sabin,
“The biographical sketch of Washington was rewritten and enlarged for this work by Jedidiah Morse from the much briefer sketch in his American Geography.”
This fine 1800 early edition includes Washington’s addresses orders to the Army, his inaugural speech to Congress in 1789, orders of cessation of hostilities, letter to his wife, letters to other presidents, and replies to Washington in response to his speeches and letters.
This New York edition includes an elegy written by Robert Treat Paine.
