A PAIR OF RUSSIAN ICONS, 19TH CENTURY. Comprising an icon depicting the head of St. John the Forerunner resting on a footed salver, the background and borders decorated in an ornately incised gilt gessoed field, 12.5 inches x 10.5 inches (31 x 26.5 cm). Together with an icon of the holy martyr Kharlampiy, here depicted delivering a blessing with his right hand and holding a book of ornately decorated Gospels, the upper border painted with an image of Christ and the background with four selected saints, 12.5 inches x 10.5 inches (31 x 26.5 cm).
