Description
**First Time At Auction**
Southeast Asia, probably Vietnam, ca. 19th century CE. A fantastic wooden and bronze pot used to smoke opium, composed of a cylindrical bowl with a flat base, a long, curved, bamboo inhalation tube, and a bronze rim that seals the top of the bowl and has a conical stem. The stem would be heated in a fire and inserted into the top of the wooden bowl; opium tar in the bowl would then smoke, allowing the user to inhale the smoke through the bamboo tube. Size: 3.6" L x 2.45" W x 14.1" H (9.1 cm x 6.2 cm x 35.8 cm)

Condition
Intact. Surface cracks to the wooden base and with signs of use around the mouthpiece. Mottled bright blue-green and brown patina on bronze components. Surface wear commensurate with age.
