Description
A SPANISH COLONIAL POLYCHROME AND CARVED WOOD SANTO FIGURE OF ST. FRANCIS, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, the figure has a downward cast gaze with a tin halo at back, above a blue and white robe painted with flower blooms and scrolls; he stands barefoot on a circular base, mounted to a square plinth. Height: 12 1/2" Diameter: 5"
Condition
There are various losses to the paint decoration throughout, now lacking a lower arm and object from other hand, and the base has a large piece missing at front right, apparent later repainting, but otherwise in fair to good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
