This is one of the limited, 600-copy Thomas Mosher 1903 publication, on Van Gelder hand-made paper, of The Poems of Oscar Wilde (196 numbered pages). This is apparently a recovered copy, but with no bindery attribution. The elegant full leather cover (7.5" x 5.75"), green morrocco with extensive gilt decoration and lettering, is near fine, with a few light surface scuffs, but no tears, stains or curl. The colors are unfaded. The five raised bands and gilt lettering, on a straight spine, are as new. The only visible attachments are the two bookplates of the noted Glaswegian lawyer, banker, philanthropist and bibliophile (Sir) Alexander Stone, to each side of the front inside spread. These appear to be on top of two other bookplates, with only the edges of the covered plates visible. The only writing is a single set of (cryptic) initials to the bottom of the back inside cover - possibly those of the binder? The binding is tight throughout the book, with no loose or missing pages. Aside from one rough outside edge, there is no wear to the pages, with no creases or tears. There are several handling smudges, but almost all pages have none. There are no stains of note. All the text is as new.
