An unusual Russian gilded silver and shaded cloisonne enamel kovsh, Maria Semenova, 1899-1908. Of stylized form, the low flat body with raised prow and unusual extended handle finishing with a curling hook, enameled with scrolling blue foliate ornament against an iron red ground, the base of the kovsh with a border of shaded green lappets, the end of the handle with similarly enameled green foliage, finished with a cable border. Overall very good condition consistent with age and use, rim slightly out of round.
