Inspired by Rolex Bubbleback, it was first introduced in 1945 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Rolex. The Rolex DateJust is one of the most understated Rolex watches period.
It was the 1st automatic (self-winding) waterproof certified chronometer on top of being the 1st wristwatch with a display date through a window on the dial with an automatic date mechanism where the date changed once past midnight automatically without delay. In fact, this is the reason for the name “just” in the DateJust, which means the date advanced – Just-in-time.
Although all these features seem common nowadays, they were game changers back in the 1940s.
The beautiful blue dial with polished Roman numerals really pops. The simple functionality of this watch is timeless, such as the date window strategically placed at the 3 O’clock position so that it could be read easily from under a shirt sleeve.

COSC Certified Chronometer automatic movement has 31 jewels and a blue Parachrom hairspring, an in-house innovation by Rolex known to be more shock and magnetic resistant. The 3135 movement has a power reserve of up to 50 hours.
