Description
A very nice Jomon corded black-ware ceramic vessel, Japan Neolithic, c. 4000 - 3000 BC, a deep bowl or 'fukabachi', coiled-formed with attractive linear decoration incised in registers around the body and in relief around the outside of the rim. H: 9 3/8 x 7 1/4 in (23.9 x 16.5 cm). An attractive example of this rare pottery from this early culture. Ex San Francisco private collection acquired in the 1950's.
