All edges gilt. A rare book, the first English translation of a work originally published in Spain in three parts, in 1565, 1571, and 1574. The focus of the book is on the medicinal and curative properties of New World plants and animals found in the West Indies, including sassafras, peppers, barley, cebadilla, and armadillos and sharks.
