[Numismatics - Mineralogy] 1695 Poem in Dutch Describing Coin Collection Later Acquired by Peter the Great, with Illustrations
Bogaert, Abraham. S. SCHYNVOET Muntkabinet der Roomsche Keizers en Keizerinnen, in vaarzen beschreeven door Abraham BOGAERT. Amsterdam : Jakob Lescailje, 1695. 6 3/4 BY 4 1/2 inches in a modern decorative paper over boards with red leather spine. With 8 (of 10?) engraved plates and 56 engraved images of Roman coins. A curious book, written in the form of an epic poem describing the collection of coins and minerals assembled by M. Schynvoet, a Dutch architect and designer of gardens.
Condition
The modern binding is not attractive but the images of coins are striking. Three of the leaves are separated from the binding. One of the folding plates is torn, with loss.
