This is the Basic Books two-volume 1959 hardcover set of "The Life and Letters of Charles Darwin, Including and Autobiographical Chapter" (558 + 562 pages), edited by his son, Francis Darwin, in the original slipcase. The slipcase has scuffs and minor stains, but is in good overall condition. The only notable flaws to the covers are sunned spines and shallow curl to the ends of the spines, which are straight and securely connected. The gilt lettering is slightly faded but legible. The only internal flaws are the name of the original owner, dated 1959, written in pen, to each otherwise blank front end page. There is no other writing. There are no stamps or other attachments. The bindings are tight, with no loose or missing pages. There are no page tears or creases. There are no page stains. All text is as new, as are the two frontispiece portraits of Darwin. The accompanying photos are accurate reflections of the set conditions.
