Description
An elegant pair of Los Castillo, Mexican Taxco silver napkin rings. These rings date to the mid-century, with minimalist lines and a bold design. The rings measure 1-1/2 inches in diameter by 1 inch tall. The interior of the rings are marked Los Castillo-Taxco, with pattern 136; also Handwrought, and Sterling Silver. Each weighs approximately 25 grams or 1 troy ounce. The silver has a nice polish to it; there is some wear to the silver but nothing that detracts from the beauty of these pieces. They would aid in creating a wonderful presentation for any table setting. They are not monogrammed, but this may be added for a personalized gift.
The Castillo Brothers were all trained in the renowned silversmith Spratling's shop before they went out to create their own fine silver pieces. They helped transform Taxco, Mexico, and had their own workshop in the 1930's. Today, they are one of the most prominent of the Mexican silversmiths and they continue their work with a second generation of artists. They are known for their remarkable mid-century design and their superb quality silver work.
