Description
This is an original and ancient porcelain bowl from the Ming Dynasty of China dating back to 1368 to 1644 AD. The blue and white bowl features a simple floral motif. The Bowl measures 5 inches wide x 2 inches tall. This glazed and painted pottery bowl dates from the late Yuan Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty. Bowls like this are typically referred to as "tea or rice bowls" intended to be utilitarian and would accompany the deceased for use in the afterlife. The bowl has a very pale blueish -green with painted decoration inside and out. As is common, the bowl has a light to moderate surface crazing (glaze crackling) overall. In very good condition with minor surface imperfections and staining from burial, but is generally intact and has no repairs or restoration. Ex. Steve Tobin Collection of Pennsylvania
