Description
This is a wonderful antique Reed & Barton sterling sugar spoon in the popular 1907 Francis I pattern. This is the original pattern and is marked with the Reed & Barton trademarks an Eagle R Lion STERLING. This sugar spoon measures approximately 6 inches and weighs 41.3 grams.
Reed & Barton of Taunton, Massachusetts began in 1824 as the partnership of Babbitt & Crossman. Issac Babbitt and Willam Crossman began a small Brittania ware firm that went through several incarnations and almost collapsed, but was saved by the work of three employees: Charles E. Barton (the brother-in-law of William Crossman), Henry Good Reed, and Benjamin Pratt. By 1840, the Reed & Barton firm was established.
