This Egyptian princess bows graciously with her hands out to her side as her long royal flowing dress cascades around down her legs and bunches at her feet. On her head she wears jeweled crown that has flaps that fall down around her face. Her dress has great dimension, with creases, folds, and pleats. She is performing a traditional dance and executes it with the graciousness of a floating hummingbird. This is a one of a kind sculpture and is sure to add a touch of style and grace to any room. This sculpture was cast using the Lost Wax Method and is mounted atop a black beveled marble base and is signed Colinet. She has a beautiful two ton brown patina which helps highlight the sculpture in all the right areas. Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet (1852-1908)Belgian sculptor Colinet was well known in her day and remembered for her series Dancers of the World, which included Ankara Dancer. Colinet worked in ivory, bronze and chryselephantine, as did most other sculptors of the time. Colinet regularly incorporated theatrical themes into her sculptors, especially with her Dancers. Colinet s sculptures were not stoic and frozen, but were full-figured and energized with strong impressions while being dynamically posed. Colinet s sculptures were exhibited at the Parisian Salons from 1913 through 1940. Condition: This sculpture is in a very Good condition.
