Description
Title: Originum Juris Civilis
Publisher: Felicis Mosca
Publication Date: 1722
Binding: Hardcover
Book Condition: Fair
Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket
Edition: 1st Edition
This is the first publication, 1722, by Felicis Mosca, Naples, of Fran Vincenzo Gravina's study of the ideals of right and reason, the division of political powers, and the limitation of political powers, in Originum Juris Civilis, with all text in Latin. The full vellum cover (app. 7" x 9.25"), with the title written in ink on the five-banded spine, is in good overall condition, with a number of scuffs, minor creases, and faded lettering to the front, but with the spine straight and securely connected, and with both front and back boards attached. The only attachment and writing are to the front inside cover, which notes this as a gift from Domenico and Franca Maffei to the legal scholar Guido Kisch, whose bookplate is below the gift notation, which is dated 1959. The internal binding is secure, with no loose or missing pages. There are stains to most pages, but all the text is clearly legible. Most text passages are not heavily stained. This copy is musty. Please take that into account. The above photos are accurate reflections of the range of conditions. Bookseller Inventory # 1204
