Description
A very fine antique Chinese Ming Dynasty bronze censer, cast in a slightly compressed globular form, swelled on the central body, tapered gracefully to the opening rim, raised on three conical legs, two loop handles everted from the gathering lip in an angle, simulated the characterizing ingot shaped rim. The metal patinated to a warm dark brown tone and some milky blue-green encrustation. The bronze censer preciously displayed upon a carved hardwood stand.
Mark on base, embossed six script -KaiShu- characters reign mark, XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming.
