Major General Andrew Jackson, stipple engraving after the painting by Thomas Sully (1783-1892) by James Barton Longacre (1794-1869), published by William H. Morgan, Philadelphia. Depicts the future president circa 1820, leaning against his horse. Housed in a period bird's eye maple frame with gilt rabbet edge under a burgundy mat. Sight - 16 1/2" H x 12 1/2" W. Condition
Some light grime/discoloration and a 1/2" triangle shaped loss to upper margin, 3/4" tear top margin, scattered foxing. Frame has veneer losses to edges, up to 6" long at top edge.
