Description
Three (3) souvenir items from Louisville, Kentucky, including a glass pitcher from the Southern Exposition held in Louisville (1883-1887). 1st item: Glass pitcher with one handle decorated frosted lettering reading "Mother Louisville Exposition 1884" surrounded by foliate designs. 9 3/8" H x 8 1/2" W. 2nd item: Transferware porcelain cup with gilt trim reading "Souvenir of Louisville" featuring three places of interest around Louisville including "Thomas Jefferson Statue & Court House", "Entrance to Cave Hill Cemetery", and "Post Office & Custom House". Maker's mark reading "Victoria Austria" with crown logo, stamped underside of cup. 3 3/4" H x 2 3/4" dia. 3rd item: White and orange lusterware cup with gilt trim, scalloped rim, and one handle, featuring a transferware vignette of "Zachary Taylor Monument, Louisville, Ky". Maker's mark reading "Made in Germany", stamped underside of cup. 2 3/4" H x 3 1/4" W. All items late 19th century. Provenance: the estate of Lynn S. Renau, Louisville KY. Condition
1st item: Overall excellent condition. Air bubbles from firing process visible surface of pitcher. 2nd item: Overall good condition with areas of wear to transfers and gilt trim. Minute firing flaw, interior of cup. 3rd item: Overall good condition areas of wear to transfer and gilt trim.
