F. E. Brandis and Sons transit surveyor, 2 Stanley sextants, and Gimbaled Compass, 4 items total. 1st item: F.E. Brandis and Sons, Brooklyn, New York, No. 3036, brass surveyor's transit level compass, steel dial with engraved name "F.E. Brandis & Sons M'F'G Co/Brooklyn, N.Y./3036", engraved fleur-de-lis at North, two intact leveling vials, and a vernier scale to outer circumference. Mounted to wood base. Transit - 14 1/2" H x 11 3/4" W. Overall - 15" H. Circa 1910. 2nd-3rd items: Two (2) Stanley, London, brass sextants, one (1) engraved "Stanley London 1884" with original leather case, and one (1) engraved "1894 Stanley Sextant London" with original burl wood case with brass placard and mountings. Sextants - 4 1/4" H x 4" W. Boxes range in size from 2 3/4" H x 5" W x 4 3/4" D to 2 3/4" H x 5 3/4" W x 5 1/2" D. 3rd item: Gimballed painted brass wet card compass with cardinal points mounted in wooden box. "Made in USA" stamped underside of compass. Compass - 3 3/4" dia. Box - 2 7/8" H x 5" W x 5" D. Late 19th/early 20th century. 1st item: Overall good condition. Compass and levels functional. General wear and oxidation to brass. 2nd-3rd items: Overall good condition. Both sextants appear intact and functional. General wear and oxidation to brass. 4th item: Overall good condition. Areas of oxidation, surface of compass. Minute areas of loss to black paint revealing brass underneath. Wooden box missing lid.
