American Mid-Atlantic Coin Silver Porringer
second quarter 19th century, by Robert & William Wilson, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a deep bulbous bowl, "rope" rim and elaborate palmette and eagle's heads openwork handle, engraved "Caroline Allen from her Grandfather R. W. Pomeroy".

Notes: The inscription here refers to Caroline P. Allen (1837-1863), granddaughter of prominent Philadelphia bookbinder and publisher Ralph Wheelock Pomeroy (1793-1844).

Condition
In used, as found condition. Seven small dents on the body, the largest about 1/2" and one fairly deep,
with several other pinpoint dings, bumps and scuffs throughout. There is a 3/4" crack on the waisted
collar near the handle, split 1/4" at one end, 1/8" at the other, and hairline between; there is also a 1/4"
dent on the interior of this waisted collar. Nice cast and engraved handle. Marked (on the underside of
the handle) "R. & W. W.".
