Description
KLM reopened many routes in 1946 as the airline recovered from World War II. September 1946 marked a milestone as the airline became one of the first to fly its new fleet of Constellations on its Amsterdam to New York route. Fast and with a pressurized cabin that allowed higher altitude and smoother flight, the Constellation finally made intercontinental air travel comfortable.
Erkelens produced many of the best Mid-Century images for the airline, including the poster celebrating its first flight after WWII. This poster is rare and unusual in its focus on the well-loved Constellation.
