Description
A 1930's Art Deco style silver condiment set, including a pepper and an open salt and mustard pot with blue glass liners, each of circular form with applied beaded details, the hinged cover of the mustard and pierced cover of the pepper with stepped finials, together with two silver condiment spoons, within a fitted case. Hallmarked Roberts & Dore, Birmingham 1935. Gross weight exclusive of glass liners (pepper and open salt with filled bases) 5.2 ozt (162.8 grams).
Condition
In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The base of the open salt and pepper are filled with solder and appear to be weighted. The interior of the open salt is heavily tarnished and stained and the glass liner has been cracked in three places with visible signs of repair and glue running through the centre. The interior of the mustard pot has less heavier tarnish marks and stains The caster has remnants of pepper to the interior. The condiment spoons have heavier wear and marks to the bowls. The elastic holding the spoons in the fitted case are loose, minor scuffs to the exterior of the case which shuts fully flush and secure. Hallmarks clear and legible.
