18th-19th century AD. A carved wooden corbel from a temple in the form of a Makara with scrolling plants coming from its mouth; the plants tapering to a series of points with birds among the foliage; two birds to the top pecking a fruit, mounted on a custom-made stand. 11.42 kg including stand, 96cm (37 3/4"). From the private collection of a North American gentleman; acquired 1970s-1990s.[No Reserve]
