Circa 1905
Inscribed signature to lower body: Ed Stellmacher for Eduard Stellmacher (1868 - 1945 German), raised monogram mark: EST for Eduard Stellmacher & Co. to underside, with applied label: Stellmacher / Teplitz
The gilt-highlighted white glazed tapering vase applied with a gold wingless dragon beneath a widening ruffled fabric-sculpted rim, together with a custom-made gilt metal stand
The vase: 28.75" H x 11" W x 9.5" D

Provenance: Private Collection, Palm Springs, CA.
Literature: A version of this model illustrated: B. Vreeland, "Monsters & Maidens: Collector's Edition", Fledermaus Press, 2011, p. 176.

Condition

Overall good condition with scattered light scuffs and surface scratches commensurate with age, primarily to foot. An approximately 2"-long hairline crack to foot with three shallow corresponding losses, the largest approximately .25"-long. An approximately 2.5" x .25" area of restoration to rim of mouth, restorations to two spines on dragon's back with corresponding overpaint to adjacent spines, and a restoration to dragon's right elbow. An approximately .5"-wide overglazed shallow nick to foot.
