Description
1587 Louis of Granada Dominican Bible Spain PLANTIN Concionum de Tempore
Louis of Granada was a 16th-century Spanish Dominican friar and preacher. He produced a collection of daily homilies and devotionals which were issued over the course a few years beginning in 1586. These homilies are known to have made an important impact on Francisco de Sales. This collection was published in four separate volumes; however they were each sold separately, never together as one large set. Each volume is considered a complete work in itself.
This 1587 Plantin printing features the classic ‘golden compass’ vignette on the title page.
Beginning in the 16th-century, few printing houses were as famous or as popular as the Plantin Press and was the epicenter of printed liturgical texts. The Papacy gave complete control to Plantin to create liturgical texts, such as this Roman Missal.
