Excellent copy with no major faults. Unusual to see this book with virtually no wear to the paper-covered boards, especially at the edges. The very first Brownies book which is recognized as the book that started the Platinum Age of comic books. Heavily illustrated with hundreds of Brownies running amok throughout almost every page. Published 1887 by the Century Co. Front board very slightly curved toward front. Mild rubbing to tips and spine ends. One tip slightly bumped; spine bottom very lightly bumped. Interior clean and presentable; two facing pages with very light evidence of something having been kept inside for period of time. A beautiful example of an iconic children's book. First edition, second issue with the DeVinne seal on the bottom of the copyright page. 144 pages. 8.5 x 10.25.
