Description
Cased Daguerreotype of the Sexton family of three, seated in front of a painting of their departed child, in the original leather case with simple brass mat, circa 1845. Handwritten note (in the hand of Mary Lord Sexton), inside reads "Bezaleel & Eliz Phelps Sexton, Uncle Thomas Sexton, painting background Marty Sexton".
Bezaleel Sexton (1811-1891) was President of the East Windsor Woolen Company, his house remains today at 99 Main Street. Their only survivng child (of four) was Thomas Bezaleel Sexton (1839-1917), Trinity College Class of 1860, later owned a ranch in Sonora, Mexico.
