Description
A Shiwan ceramic figure of Budai dating from the late 19th century. Budai's robes are pale blue glazed and the figure's skin is bare clay. The figure rests his left hand on a pillow and his right clutches a necklace of prayer beads.
Dimensions are 8 inches tall X 8 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: A few small hairline cracks but overall good condition.
Provenance: From a Toronto, Canada collector who collected all of the items in Hong Kong prior to the 1970s.
