Description
Yemen, ca. 2nd century BCE to 2nd century CE. Finely carved from honey hued alabaster, a well patinated head of a dignified youth with almond-shaped recessed eyes which more than likely once held inlays, framed by incised arched brows above, and further detailed with skillfully delinated ears, nose, lips, and a wavy coiffure. A sensitively modeled visage mounted on a handsome wood base. Size: 4.625" H (11.7 cm); 7.375" H (18.7 cm) on included custom stand.
