Description

R & W Sorley, Glasgow Gothic Revival 8-tube tall case clock, circa 1900, executed in mahogany and ebonized wood, having a semi-scrolled pediment centering a carved and ebonized rose, above a band of rosettes and a floral frieze, the clock face behind a pointed arch beveled glass door flanked by Gothic columns with spires, the pierced and engraved brass dial with a silvered chapter ring having raised Roman numerals, as well as a subsidiary seconds dial, and chime selection dials, marked "R & W Sorley, Glasgow,' surmounting a case with a glazed pointed arch door revealing three brass cased weights and a compensated brass pendulum flanked by Gothic tracery and glazed sidelights, the whole resting on a stepped base, 96"h x 23.75"w x 17.25"w.
