Description
"Mabel". Provenance: belonged to Christine Beatty Curwen (b. 1870-d. 1901. M. 1899 to Francis R. Packard, MD) She was the daughter of George Fisher Curwen II & Emily Moore Beatty Curwen of Walnut Hill, Villanova, PA. Doll became property of Alice Osborne McKeen (Mrs. Edward F. ) & Elinor E. Curwen of Villanova, PA. Blue paper weight eyes with eye shadow. Closed mouth with slightly parted lips, molded and painted teeth. Plump cheeks. Pierced ears. Original skin wig, cork pate under blonde mohair wig. Swivel head on bisque shoulder plate marked "2", molded breasts. Gusseted leather body with scallop edge that comes to below breasts; leather arms with beautiful bisque lower arms (no rivet joints). Dressed in antique clothing - dark red wool coat dress trimmed with camel piping. Decorated bonnet. Cotton petticoat, chemise, pantaloons. Red lace socks, brown leather "B (in oval) 2" shoes. Stand. Condition: nothing observed on bisque head, shoulder plate after careful examination. Thumb on left hand is missing. Major loss on skin wig. Trunk: 12" W x 7 1/2" T x 7 1/2" D. (Repaired hinge). Accessories: wallpaper box etc. Clothes - (3) petticoats, (2) pantaloons, (4) hats, (2) dresses.
